Darkness Into Light-2024 Wicklow Town

In 2009, at the Phoenix Park in Dublin, 400 people participated in the inaugural Darkness Into Light 5km walk to raise funds for Pieta. The movement has grown significantly from these modest beginnings, now attracting over 150,000 participants each year.

The walk provides an annual opportunity for individuals to connect with their local communities and offer hope to those affected by suicide. Our dedicated volunteers in Ireland and abroad return every year to ensure the event’s success, helping to raise awareness and hope in the global fight against suicide and self-harm.

This year, volunteers from the Wicklow Volunteer Centre were honored to be part of the Wicklow & District Lions Club volunteers team. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our friend Sean Olohan of the Wicklow Lions Club for inviting us to participate in this significant community event. We also wish to express our deep appreciation to the volunteers of the Palyanytsya Ukrainian Hub, particularly Tanya Antonova, for their active involvement. It is a pleasure to start the day by contributing to such a worthwhile fundraising effort.
