Hygiene Hub collects new, unused, in-date personal care and household cleaning essentials.
We know that the needs of every person and household are different, so our rule of thumb is: If you need an item, then it is likely someone else needs it too.
We accept everything from shampoo to deodorant to laundry detergent to kid’s products. Unfortunately, we do not accept adult incontinence products.
Please only donate what you would consider happily gifting a friend.
Wickow Pride Parade Steward – Wicklow Pride Festival (Wicklow Town)
 An annual LGBTQ+ event to inform, create awareness of, promote and celebrate Diversity, Inclusion and Equality for all. Est. 2014
“Bringing the diverse Community together… to celebrate as One”
Our Pride invites everyone to join us in this unique and inclusive celebration. Let no walls divide us. Let no religion keep us apart. Come together to celebrate as one diverse community.
Our Gay Pride Parade takes place on
Saturday 6th July in Wicklow Town.
We are looking for at least 30 stewards to help ensure the safety and security of parade participants and attendees.
Stewards will also be given a script of frequently asked questions and event logistics so they can answer basic questions about the Wicklow Pride Fesitval.
We will be working closely with the Gardai on the day and will have some road closures. The parade route will go through main street Wicklow Town.
Front Desk Volunteer – South Leinster Citizens Information Centre (Bray & Arklow)
South Leinster Citizens Information Service provides an independent, free and confidential information, advice and advocacy service on civil and social rights and entitlements: social welfare, employment, health, housing, finance, disability, family issues, education, local information, legal matters, and more.
We are looking for volunteers to commit to volunteering with us once a week for four hours in our offices in Bray & Arklow.
The volunteer will be responsible for:
- Meeting and greeting the people using the service
- Answering the phone and directing calls
- Assessing callers’ needs and responding appropriately
- Recording and relaying messages
- Recording queries on our data collection system
- General administration work
Charity Shop Assistant – Irish Deaf Society Charity Shop (Bray)
The Irish Deaf Society seeks to achieve and promote the Equality and Rights of Deaf people in Ireland. On the grounds of the Irish Constitution and Human Rights and international legislation, the ambition of full access to citizenship and society is sought through the empowerment and mobilisation of the Deaf community.
There’s a new shop in town and you could become part of the volunteering team!
Volunteers tasks will involve the following –
- Greeting and assisting customers
- Assisitng donors with questions and queries
- Till operation (training provided)
- Preparing donations for shop floor- cleaning, steaming, hanging & tagging
- Creating window and shop dislpays
- General housekeeping and stockroom duties
Chess Club Tutor – County Wicklow Partnership (Baltinglass)
Co Wicklow Partnership came in to effect on 1st January 2009. The work of the company is carried out through a series of publicly funded programmes and projects, funded largely through the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government, Pobal and the HSE.
We are starting a new chess club in Baltinglass for both children and adults new to the game.
We are looking for a tutor who would be able to show both young and old how to play. We hope this will be a fun and relaxed group for everyone to learn this wonderful game of skill and strategy.
Driver – Arklow Cancer Support
We give free practical and emotional support to those who find themselves affected by a cancer diagnosis.
Our ability to offer our services relies solely on the volunteers, donations, and fundraising events that our community so generously provides. We cover Avoca, Tinahely, out to Barndarrig – Coolgreaney and Inch area.
The close-knit relationships we have nurtured with both patients and volunteers over the years have empowered Arklow Cancer Support to provide the many therapies, courses, services, and events that have helped make a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer.
We need volunteer drivers to drive clients of the cancer support group to their treatments in various Dublin Hospitals. Typically a course of 40 treatments is spread over 6 weeks and the round trip from Arklow will take 3.5 – 4 hours.
Volunteer drivers will be part of a team of drivers and can commit to whatever days suit them with a one day a month minimum.
We have two or our own cars which can be used by volunteers or the driver may use their own vehicle and will be given out of pocket expenses to towards their fuel costs.
Special Olympics Coach – Arklow Little Vikings
The aim of the club is to help children aged 4-12years old with learning disabilities to participate in the special olympics programme in a fun and safe environment.
The club will take place on a Saturday in Arklow CBS hall.
Coach’s Tasks Include:
- Plan and follow through with training session’s
- Organise equipment needed for activities
- Manage volunteers at training session’s
- Partake in any training that is required by the Special Olympics Ireland
Bray Sanctuary Runners
Bray Sanctuary Runners enable Irish residents to run alongside, and in solidarity with, migrants, asylum seekers and refugees thereby fostering friendship, positivity and respect while bringing greater awareness to the migration system.
A non-profit, and multi-award-winning movement we use running to build sustainable bridges between communities and to show that we are all equal.
At the moment Bray Sanctuary Runners are meeting every Saturday. It is a running AND walking group open to all. It’s a very friendly group.
We meet outside the Esplanade Hotel Bray every Saturday morning at 11:30am. We also attend the Park Run in Shanganagh on the 1st Saturday of every month.
Riding Assistant – Riding For the Disabled Association (Carlow)
We are a national voluntary organisation which provides the opportunity of recreational and therapeutic riding and carriage driving to any person, mentally or physically disabled who meet our medical criteria, and who might benefit in their general health and happiness
Volunteer tasks include:
- Saddle and bridle the ponies
- Help people with disabilities to become familiar with the ponies and riding
- Lead the ponies around the ring and/or hold the rider on the pony until they feel confident and secure.
Kayak Instuctor – Queen Of Peace Adventure Youth Club (Bray)
The club is affiliated to a national youth agency, Crosscare, who through their local youth service provides the club with various opportunities for training, support and advice.
Today the club provides indoor and outdoor activities for young people from 10–18yrs from Bray and South County Dublin. It meets on a weekly basis all year round, and currently has a membership of 60. We like to do all sorts of fun stuff in the great outdoors like Kayaking, Hill Walking, Swimming, Bowling Night, Fun Quiz nights and so much more.
Queen of Peace Adventure Youth Club are back in the water since the May bank holiday weekend and are looking for a qualified instructor to volunteer and help teach the members of the club basic sea kayaking skills.
Members range in age from 10 to 16 and are taught kayaking in groups of 6.
Kayaking classes will take place every Tuesday from 6pm to 8pm approximately from May to September 2024.
Day Care Centre Activities Volunteer – Alzheimers Society Of Ireland (Bray)
Our daycare centres provide dementia-specific, person-centred care to meet the needs of the person with dementia in a warm, welcoming, and safe environment while providing support and stimulation. We work with each person to ensure they feel comfortable and supported and their individual needs are met as far as possible.
We offer a wide range of activities including reminiscence therapy, music sessions, gentle exercises, arts and crafts, and personal care. The daycare service includes a hot lunch and transport is provided by some of our centres.
Volunteers help the clients by getting involved in activities, having a chat, making tea/coffee, helping serve lunch, etc.
Some of the activities enjoyed by our clients include the Sonas programme, arranging flowers, card making, art/pottery, etc.
Volunteers with an art & craft background or musical background e.g. knitting, singing, playing a musical instrument, flower arranging, card making, etc would be very welcome.
This club takes place from 10 am to 3 pm on both Thursday and Friday but the volunteer would only be required to do 3 to 4 hours on the day they volunteer.
The day centre is staffed and is supported by volunteers who give their valuable time.
Event Volunteers – Dublin Simon Community (Grangegorman D7)
Dublin Simon Community works to prevent and address homelessness in Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow, Meath, Louth, Cavan and Monaghan. We provide services at all stages of homelessness and enable people to move to a place they can call home.
Thursday 20th June 2024
This is a family friendly festival style fundraising event which will have music / comedy / wellbeing classes / kids zone / art installation / food area and much more. This is a free event so you are free to bring family and friends to enjoy the festival and you can enjoy the area before and after your volunteering time. Time Commitment:
Volunteering opportunities will be available from 1.30pm to 9.30pm in 2 hour blocks. The different roles we have are:
Set-up – We would need some volunteers to come along before the event starts and help set everything up before helping out with one of the below tasks before. Fundraising Volunteers – We will have some volunteers that will make sure that we make the most of our fundraising, these will be standing beside buckets or tap machines, either beside one of our stages, at one of our stalls, or activities.
Steward volunteers – These volunteers will be places in areas throughout the festival to ensure that all areas are kept clean and safe and they will be given info so that the public can ask some basic questions about where they can find different activities or services.
Take-down volunteers – We will need some volunteers to help out after the event is finished to make sure that the space is tidy and everything that we put up (not including tents and other 3rd party supplies) is taken down.

Community Drivers – Anne Sullivan Centre (Stillorgan)
We provide residential and day services to 13 adults who are deafblind with multisensory impairments and support them to pursue meaningful, active and fulfilling lives.
The Anne Sullivan Centre aims to embrace the uniqueness of each individual service user by offering person centered plans and activities that promote independence, communication, equality and inclusive decision making.
Volunteer driving is a flexible role where volunteer drivers drive Anne Sullivan Centre transport, staff and service users for approximately 8 hours per month or based on their availability.
Volunteers can choose a regular weekly drive or choose from a selection of drives each month. The times and days of drives can vary but we are confident we have a drive that will suit.
Volunteers can also support us by giving their time to get vehicles serviced, washed or refuelled.
Internal Audit Volunteers – Oxfam (Nationwide)
Oxfam Ireland have recently established an Internal Audit function and are looking for volunteers to assist the resident Internal Auditor.
Retail Internal Auditors
Oxfam Ireland has a network of 45 retail shops across the island of Ireland, and one distribution centre located in Belfast.
Time Commitment:
- One shop audit requires a commitment of approximately 2 days, around 5 hours each day.
- Ideally we would like a volunteer for 2 weeks, which would allow them to audit up to 4 shops at one time.
- There will be flexibility around timings.
Head Office Internal Auditors
Oxfam Ireland has two main offices in Dublin and Belfast.
Time Commitment:
- The duration of an audit may vary, but is generally between 4-8 weeks and might average around 15 hours per week.
- A volunteer would not be expected to work full-time, and flexibility is no issue as long as there is a commitment to complete the audit.
Locations:
Ability to attend the shops and perform the audit on-site. There are shops right across the island of Ireland and you would be assigned to those which are convenient to you. For office auditors, most of the work can be performed remotely.
Why not volunteer in your local charity shop?
Many charity shops in Wicklow are recruiting volunteers to join their teams and support them with the tremendous work they do generating funds for their respective charities.
Volunteering is a great opportunity to meet people & have fun. Shop volunteers can help in many different ways – preparing goods for sale, helping customers in the shop and helping at the till. They provide a friendly welcome to customers and help the shops to run smoothly. We have roles in garden, furniture & retail shops across the country!
