Wickow Pride Parade Volunteer – Wicklow Pride Festival (Wicklow Town)

Wicklow Pride FestivalAn annual LGBTQ+ event to inform, create awareness of, promote and celebrate Diversity, Inclusion and Equality for all. Est. 2014

Our Gay Pride Parade takes place on 
Saturday 6th July in Wicklow Town. 
Our Gay Pride Parade takes place on Saturday 6th July in Wicklow Town. We are looking for at least 30 volunteers to help ensure the safety and security of parade participants and attendees.
Volunteers will also be given a script of frequently asked questions and event logistics to answer basic questions about the Wicklow Pride Festival.
We will be working closely with the Gardai on the day and will have some road closures. The parade route will go through the main street of Wicklow Town.


Arklow Community Action Resource Centre

Arklow Community Action Resource CentreOur aim is to provide Community Development, Women’s groups, Men’s groups and Foodcloud deliveries in the town of Arklow and surrounding areas.

Edible Bray Volunteers

Edible BrayEdible Bray is creating a free food trail around Bray with orchards, and edible plants, free for all. A few days each week, members of Edible Bray come together at certain times and places to continue the work of nurturing this living gift to Bray and its community.

All are Welcome to come along and Get Involved.
NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!

We need new, consistant volunteers for these tasks:

  • gardening type work
  • co-ordination of some of the events we have committed to
  • organising volunteer days
  • organising seed swap days (can be at the library or another public space)
  • running our instagram
  • running our Facebook
  • Attending Community Garden and other sister organisation meetings (online and in person)We welcome both experts and novice gardeners.


Catering Assistant – Gerri’s Place (Arklow)

Gerris PlaceGerri’s place is a non-profit, social enterprise that provides wellbeing breaks for people who need time and space to focus on their emotional and mental wellbeing. ​

Support our caterer with preparation and tidying up. You will be assisting our cook in the kitchen. We need 1 volunteer every Friday from 1-5 pm.
You can do it once off or regularly.

Horticulturalist or Landscape Designer – Greystones Tidy Towns

Greystones Tidy TownsGreystones Tidy Towns was established over 20 years ago to enable the community to work together to ensure Greystones would always be a great place to live, work and visit. We have a strong alliance with the municipal district council, as well as other community groups and local schools.

Our mission is to keep the lovely town of Greystones worthy of the Gold Medal it won in the National Tidy Towns Competition 2022, and also worthy of its title of one of the World’s Most Liveable Communities in 2021.

We are looking for a volunteer with horticultural and/or landscape design experience to join the Greystones Tidy Towns committee.

The role will include:

  • Working with the volunteers to coordinate care and maintenance of green sites throughout the town.
  • Developing and implementing plans for the development of new green sites in the town.
  • Recording activities for the annual National Tidy Towns competition submission.
  • Updating activities at monthly committee meetings.
  • Integrating biodiversity and sustainable practices in horticultural activities.


Irish Deaf Society Charity Shop (Bray)

Irish deaf SocietyThe Irish Deaf Society seeks to achieve and promote the Equality and Rights of Deaf people in Ireland. On the grounds of the Irish Constitution and Human Rights and international legislation, the ambition of full access to citizenship and society is sought through the empowerment and mobilisation of the Deaf community.

There’s a new shop in town and you could become part of the volunteering team!
 

Charity Shop Assistant

Volunteers tasks will involve the following –

  • Greeting and assisting customers
  • Assisitng donors with questions and queries
  • Till operation (training provided)
  • Sorting donations
  • Preparing donations for shop floor- cleaning, steaming, hanging & tagging
  • Stocking the shop floor
  • Creating window and shop dislpays
  • General housekeeping and stockroom duties

Social Media Volunteer

Do you have experience using Social Media? Could you volunteer remotely and help us develop a more active presence on our social media?

We need someone who will keep our social media accounts up to date and grow our number of likes & followers.

This opportunity is highly flexible and could be done whenever the volunteer has time to spare, if you think you can help, we’d love to hear from you!

This may suit a Digital Media student or graduate.


East Coast Samaritans (Arklow)

east coast samaritansFor over 40 years, Samaritans volunteers have been available to those experiencing depression, relationship and family issues, loneliness, isolation, physical and mental health issues and suicidal thoughts and feelings.

Our incredible volunteers offer their time to help to deliver our 24-hour emotional support service to callers in many ways, from answering telephones and emails, to fundraising, generating publicity, administration and finance.
You don’t need to have been through a particular life experience or be from a certain walk of life. Anyone who wants to help others, is tolerant and open-minded is welcome to apply.

Volunteer With Us @ The Greystones Youth Café

Greystones youth cafe v2The Greystones Youth Café gang is expanding its opening hours, and that means getting a few more volunteers involved.

Between 50/60 young people attend the Café every week and we have hosted everything from pizza nights to science expos, and guests from Bressie to The Happy Pear.

The cafe is a safe place for youth, aged 12-19, where they can come do homework or connect with friends over a slice of pizza and an ice-cold smoothie’. The plan is also to use the centre for movies, music and Alpha courses.

Currently, the opening hours are:

  • Monday 4pm to 6pm – this session is for young people going into 1st year in September
  • Wednesdays 3pm to 5pm
  • Fridays 7pm to 9pm
  • Starting in July the Cafe will open from 12pm to 4pm on the 2nd Saturday of every month.
All volunteers will be Garda-vetted.

First Responder – Greystones Community First Responders (Greystones & Delgany)

Greystones First RespondersGreystones Community First Responders are open to applications from new volunteers.

Greystones First Responders have been in operation for over 15 years, we work as volunteers with The National Ambulance Service and respond to cardiac events in the Greystones and Delgany area. As we all live locally we are able to respond quickly to these emergencies.

Volunteers must live in the Greystones or Delgany area so that they could attend a call within approx 6 mins of being notified.

We are now recruiting for new members to join our group, you do not need previous medical experience to be a Responder. If you can answer “Yes” to all these questions, we want to hear from you.

Do you enjoy a challenge ?
Are you good under pressure and remain calm in stressful situations ?
Are you ready to learn essential life-saving skills ?
Do you want to give something back to your community?
Do you live in the immediate area of Greystones or Delgany?
Have you a full Driving Licence with access to a car?
Are you fully vaccinated against COVID-19?
Are you over 18?

Chess Club Tutor – County Wicklow Partnership (Baltinglass)

county-wicklow-partnershipCo Wicklow Partnership came in to effect on 1st January 2009. The work of the company is carried out through a series of publicly funded programmes and projects, funded largely through the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government, Pobal and the HSE.

We are starting a new chess club in Baltinglass for both children and adults new to the game.
We are looking for a tutor who would be able to show both young and old how to play. We hope this will be a fun and relaxed group for everyone to learn this wonderful game of skill and strategy.

Kayak Instuctor – Queen Of Peace Adventure Youth Club (Bray)

Queen of peace YCThe club is affiliated to a national youth agency, Crosscare, who through their local youth service provides the club with various opportunities for training, support and advice.

Today the club provides indoor and outdoor activities for young people from 10–18yrs from Bray and South County Dublin. It meets on a weekly basis all year round, and currently has a membership of 60. We like to do all sorts of fun stuff in the great outdoors like Kayaking, Hill Walking, Swimming, Bowling Night, Fun Quiz nights and so much more.

Queen of Peace Adventure Youth Club are back in the water since the  May bank holiday weekend and are looking for a qualified instructor to volunteer and help teach the members of the club basic sea kayaking skills.

Members range in age from 10 to 16 and are taught kayaking in groups of 6.

Kayaking classes will take place every Tuesday from 6pm to 8pm approximately from May to September 2024.

Youth Leaders, The Swamp – Foroige (Templeogue)

ForoigeOur vision is an Ireland that believes in every young person and by becoming a Foroige Volunteer Leader, you are showing your belief in the young people of your community.

We have lots of support in place like training, activities and developmental programmes to help you to lead your club to be the very best it can be. The youths of your community will love the opportunities that you make possible for them.

Youth Leaders recruited will be joining an existing Leader Team, who have been working on the development of The Swamp for the past several years.

The Swamp is an Older Members Club, with a membership of approx 20. This club is a warm, friendly initiative, brimming with teenagers who are seeking time to hang out, make new friends and get involved in a variety of activities, from Cake Bake Sales, to movie nights, Leadership for Life Programme, trips to adventure centres, Theatre Makeup Workshops.

As Youth Leader with The Swamp, you will be working with the Leader Team and young people to help co-ordinate weekly club sessions, from planning activities with them, to helping source resources required to being as regular an attender to the Club as possible.

LGBT+ Helpline Volunteer – LGBT Ireland

LGBT IrelandThe National LGBT+ Helpline is run through a network of trained volunteers based in four local helplines across the country – Cork, Dublin, Dundalk and the West of Ireland (Galway/Mayo/Sligo/Roscommon)

We are currently seeking volunteers in all regions.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life, with two things in common: we all identify as LGBTQI+ and want to give something back to our community. The Volunteer role is very rewarding and requires a commitment of seven hours per month (evenings and weekends).

Due to the sensitive nature of our calls and online chats, we seek volunteers over the age of 21.

Volunteers primarily provide listening and emotional support for members of the LGBTQI+ community, their friends, families, and allies. This includes information and signposting to local and national community and support services.

LGBT Ireland provides training and mentoring for volunteers before they start on the Helpline in addition to ongoing training and support.

All our volunteers are over 21 and identify as LGBTQI+. Volunteers commit:

  • Attend an average of 2 shifts per month for a minimum of 24 months.
  • Respond appropriately to helpline calls and instant messages while on shift.
  • Abide by confidentiality and data protection.
  • Complete any required documentation related to helpline shifts promptly.
  • Report any safeguarding concerns to the designated safeguarding person.
  • Follow all LGBT Ireland policies and procedures relating to the National LGBT Helpline.
  • Engage with fellow volunteers, LGBT Ireland staff, and service users in a friendly, respectful, and responsible manner.
  • Liaise with local volunteer coordinators to plan shift work and support the mentoring of new volunteers.
  • Attend any mandatory training provided by or on behalf of LGBT Ireland.
  • Understand, respect, and uphold the ambition, purpose, and values of LGBT Ireland, as outlined in the LGBT Ireland Strategic Plan 2023 – 2027.

Where:
Cork, Dublin, Dundalk, Galway, Mayo, Roscommon, Sligo

We are looking for people who are:

  • Passionate about supporting members of the LGBTQI+ community.
  • Good communicators, excellent listeners, who have a desire to develop their communication skills further.
  • Comfortable using computers, smartphones, and basic IT systems.
  • Over 21 years of age
  • Self-identifying members of the LGBTQI+ community.

Male volunteers in acharity shopMany charity shops in Wicklow are recruiting volunteers to join their teams and support them with the tremendous work they do generating funds for their respective charities.

Volunteering is a great opportunity to meet people & have fun. Shop volunteers can help in many different ways – preparing goods for sale, helping customers in the shop and helping at the till. They provide a friendly welcome to customers and help the shops to run smoothly.  We have roles in garden, furniture & retail shops across the country!

We accept everything from shampoo to deodorant to laundry detergent to kid’s products. Unfortunately, we do not accept adult incontinence products.
