The Thomas Pender Memorial Run Arklow

The Thomas Pender Memorial Run is a special event in memory of Tom Pender—a beloved member of the Avoca community who sadly passed away in April 2024 after battling idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Organised by his daughter, Rachael Pender, this run is both a tribute to his life and a powerful way to raise awareness for pulmonary fibrosis, with all proceeds going to the Irish Lung Fibrosis Association (ILFA).

Participants took part in either a 5K or 10K route through the beautiful surroundings of Arklow, with the start and finish lines at Coral Leisure Centre.

Wicklow Volunteer Centre Community Volunteers were there on the day to help out. Everyone had a great day, and thankfully the weather was lovely too.
