Celebrating National Volunteering Week 2025 in Wicklow
Wicklow Volunteer Centre proudly marked National Volunteering Week (NVW) 2025 with engaging activities that celebrated community spirit, strengthened connections, and highlighted the value of volunteering.
One of the highlights of the week was a special meeting between the Wicklow Volunteer Centre team and our Volunteer Board Members. It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our shared goals, express appreciation, and just have some time together in a warm and collaborative atmosphere
We also organised a day out for our Community Volunteers to say thank you for their continued dedication. The day included the popular Beyond the Trees walk in Avondale, a guided tour of the historic Avondale House, and a lovely lunch at the Avondale café. The experience was both relaxing and uplifting — a heartfelt way to show our gratitude.
In addition, two members of our team took part in Training facilitated by the County Wicklow Local Authority Integration Team. We are grateful for opportunities like this that help us deepen our understanding and enhance our support for the community.
We hosted a clean-up in Ashford, organised in collaboration with Ashford Tidy Towns, Wicklow County Council and residents of Rathmore Holiday Village. It was wonderful to work together for the well-being of the Ashford community.
We were also delighted to contribute to the capacity-building of local groups: our staff member Fiona Downes delivered a training session on “Recruitment and Retention of Volunteers” for the County Wicklow PPN. Supporting organisations in strengthening their volunteer engagement is a key part of our mission.

NVW 2025 was a powerful reminder of the impact volunteers make every day, and we were proud to celebrate with so many of those who help make Wicklow a more connected, caring place.
