Carmelite Convent Garden Project-2 Part (creation)

In June Wicklow Volunteer Center implemented the first stage of a comprehensive gardening project and we are delighted to update you on the progress as the gardening team, residents of the Carmelite Monastery Delgany, continues to create and develop the vegetable beds.

We received assistance from Chadwicks Bray who provided pallets free of charge that the team upcycled and used to make more planters, similar to the ones made by Bray Men’s Shed.  A resident of Carmelite Monastery, fully embraced the creative process of building the boxes, using tools and other materials kindly donated by Delgany Tidy Towns team.  The Happy Pear gave donated seeds and seasonal vegetable plants to complete this part of the project.

In the photos, you can see the construction process, as well as the joyful faces of the volunteers involved.

We are deeply grateful to all the organisations that have joined us in this important project.

Stay tuned for the third part of this project—bringing vegetables from the garden to the table!
