Hygiene Hub collects new, unused, in-date personal care and household cleaning essentials.
We know that the needs of every person and household are different, so our rule of thumb is: If you need an item, then it is likely someone else needs it too.
We accept everything from shampoo to deodorant to laundry detergent to kid’s products. Unfortunately, we do not accept adult incontinence products.
Please only donate what you would consider happily gifting a friend.
Coffee Dock Volunteer – The Coffee Dock (Bray)
At the Coffee Dock refreshments are served in a friendly atmosphere Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday after 10 am mass, providing a friendly social circle and a cup of tea and a chat.
The group operates term time, September to June, closing for a couple of weeks over Christmas & Easter periods.
This is a really fun role for a sociable chatty person. Volunteers operate in pairs and are typically required from 10am to 12pm approx.
They set up the Coffee Dock – put milk, sugar, biscuits, cups & saucers on the tables. Serve the tea & coffee. Socialise with the customers. Clear up after use, there is a commercial dishwasher on site.
Currently they need a volunteer on a Wednesday & Thursday morning whichever day suits you!
Product Donation Coordinator – Hygiene Hub Wicklow
We are looking for go-getters who can take initiative and work as a team
Our Wicklow team is growing and is looking for new volunteers in Blessington, Wicklow Town, and Arklow to help tackle hygiene poverty in the local community. This is an important role in our Wicklow Hub that will ensure hygiene products are collected from our supporters and distributed on a regular basis to our Community Partners.
We are looking for people to take on this role who are available between the hours of 9am-5pm, or someone who has flexibility throughout their week, and who has access to a car to deliver hygiene items. Volunteering as a Donation Coordinator is a flexible volunteer opportunity that often can fit around other responsibilities. Donation Coordinators should be go-getters who can take initiative and work as a team.
Donation Coordinators are responsible for the regular collection of hygiene items from our Drop Off Points, and the delivery of items to our Community Partners.
This includes:
- Working with a local business or businesses to set up a new Drop Off Point where the general public can donate hygiene items
- Liaising with the local business manager to collect the products as necessary, ensuring the box never overflows
- Delivering hygiene items to our Community Partners who are charities and community groups working to support people facing hygiene poverty
- Logging the kilogram weight of each collection and delivery onto our online form
- Joining online and in-person meetings to discuss future deliveries and upcoming events
- Staying in regular contact with fellow volunteers and reporting back to the local Hub Coordinator
- Access to a car during 9-5 weekday hours is essential.
Bag Packer Extraordinaire needed! – St John Of God Demendtia Care (Dunnes Stores Cornelscourt)
St Joseph’s is the largest care home in Ireland solely dedicated to dementia care – where feelings matter most.
Our vision is that our communities can access with ease high quality care and services that are responsive to society’s needs today and into the future. 60 people call St Joseph’s their home and we also provide weekly respite and day care facilities.
Get ready to pack your bags (well actually someone else’s!).
On 24th May we’ve been given the opportunity to raise some funds by bag packing in Dunnes Stores Cornelscourt.
We have two slots from 12.30pm to 3pm and from 3.30pm to 6pm.
If you have a few hours to spare, let us know! It promises to a fulfilling experience (get it?)!!!
To volunteer all you need is packing skills, a friendly face and be willing to share information with shoppers about the work we do. Over 18’s only I’m afraid.
Wickow Pride Parade Steward – Wicklow Pride Festival (Wicklow Town)
 An annual LGBTQ+ event to inform, create awareness of, promote and celebrate Diversity, Inclusion and Equality for all. Est. 2014

Our Gay Pride Parade takes place on
Saturday 6th July in Wicklow Town.
We are looking for at least 30 stewards to help ensure the safety and security of parade participants and attendees.
Stewards will also be given a script of frequently asked questions and event logistics so they can answer basic questions about the Wicklow Pride Fesitval.
We will be working closely with the Gardai on the day and will have some road closures. The parade route will go through main street Wicklow Town.
Become a Leader with the Irish Girl Guides
The Irish Girl Guides (IGG) has approximately 12,000 youth and adult members in Ireland, with a paid staff supporting the work of volunteers in the organisation.
We are a youth-driven, dynamic organisation offering a varied and exciting programme for girls and young women aged 5-30, and opportunities for women of all ages.
As a girl-only movement, girls are free to develop and express themselves in a safe, comfortable, supported setting. The Mission of the Irish Girl Guides is to enable girls and young women to develop to their fullest potential as responsible citizens of the world

Day Care Centre Activities Volunteer – Alzheimers Society Of Ireland (Bray)
Our daycare centres provide dementia-specific, person-centred care to meet the needs of the person with dementia in a warm, welcoming, and safe environment while providing support and stimulation. We work with each person to ensure they feel comfortable and supported and their individual needs are met as far as possible.
We offer a wide range of activities including reminiscence therapy, music sessions, gentle exercises, arts and crafts, and personal care. The daycare service includes a hot lunch and transport is provided by some of our centres.
Volunteers help the clients by getting involved in activities, having a chat, making tea/coffee, helping serve lunch, etc.
Some of the activities enjoyed by our clients include the Sonas programme, arranging flowers, card making, art/pottery, etc.
Volunteers with an art & craft background or musical background e.g. knitting, singing, playing a musical instrument, flower arranging, card making, etc would be very welcome.
This club takes place from 10 am to 3 pm on both Thursday and Friday but the volunteer would only be required to do 3 to 4 hours on the day they volunteer.
The day centre is staffed and is supported by volunteers who give their valuable time.
Kayak Instuctor – Queen Of Peace Adventure Youth Club (Bray)
The club is affiliated to a national youth agency, Crosscare, who through their local youth service provides the club with various opportunities for training, support and advice.
Today the club provides indoor and outdoor activities for young people from 10–18yrs from Bray and South County Dublin. It meets on a weekly basis all year round, and currently has a membership of 60. We like to do all sorts of fun stuff in the great outdoors like Kayaking, Hill Walking, Swimming, Bowling Night, Fun Quiz nights and so much more.
Queen of Peace Adventure Youth Club are back in the water on Tuesday the 6th of May 2024 and are looking for a qualified instructor to volunteer and help teach the members of the club basic sea kayaking skills.
Members range in age from 10 to 16 and are taught kayaking in groups of 6.
Kayaking classes will take place every Tuesday from 6pm to 8pm approximately from May to September 2024.
Garden Shop Assistant – Festina Lente (Bray)
Our mission is to support people to achieve their personal best through their experiences with horses, horticulture and community.
Regardless of personal circumstances, all Festina Lente staff are passionate about ensuring that this mission can be realised by each person and are proud to be able to work alongside each person in achieving this.
Tasks for volunteers in the Garden Shop include:
- Serve customers assisting them with their purchases and choice of plants, equestrian and pet accessories, gifts etc.
- Operate the cash register and help with the cashing-up procedure at the end of the day.
- Water the plants, replenish stock, and keep the shop and coffee station clean and tidy.
Ideally, volunteers will work in pairs or with a staff member Monday to Sunday from 9.30am to 1pm or 1pm to 5pm.
Hospice Sunflower Days Community Organiser – Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services
Sunflower Day is a national fundraising event for hospices in Ireland and takes place this year on Friday 7th June and Saturday 8th June 2024.
As a Hospice Sunflower Days Community Organiser, you will be tasked with the following:
- Identifying and recruiting local volunteers to help in the delivery of Hospice Sunflower Days. Volunteers could include family, friends, local students or members of your local clubs. Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services can also help with volunteer recruitment in the lead up to Hospice Sunflower Days.
- Organising a volunteer roster for the day indicating times and locations that need to be filled.
- Identifying and suggesting possible high foot fall locations within your local area in which to set up Hospice Sunflower Days on street collections.
- Distribution of Hospice Sunflower Days stock to volunteer locations on Hospice Sunflower Days.
- Supervising your local activities on Hospice Sunflower Days (Friday 7th June and Saturday 8th June) and supporting your volunteers as is needed.
- Collecting, counting and lodging all funds raised throughout the day at your local bank or post office.
Time Commitment:
Approx. 3 hours per week for a month leading up to the Sunflower Days and then availability on 7th & 8th June 2024.
Schools Programme & Partnerships Team Volunteers – Hygiene Hub Wicklow
Part of The Hygiene Bank Ireland, we are working with local communities in #Wicklow to help fight hygiene poverty.
The Hygiene Bank tackles hygiene and period poverty by collecting toiletries and other products and distributing them to charity partners who can help those who need them.
We are looking to grow our teams in our Schools Programme and our Partnership’s Team.
Our Schools Team focus on educating primary and secondary level students about hygiene poverty, and what they can do to help.
Our Partnership’s Team work with brands and businesses who want to help tackle hygiene poverty in their local communities.
Primary duties include:
- Communications with new and prospective partners
- To ensure all our Partner contact details are correct and up to date
- Organise and coordinate corporate brand donations
- Represent Hygiene Hub when liaising with corporates and brands
- Seek out new partnerships for hygiene products or sponsorship opportunities
- Attend Partnerships Team meetings once a month (online)

On Saturday, 8 June 2024, UCD will welcome 20,000+ visitors to the Belfield campus for free events in science & innovation, arts & humanities, technology, business, health and well-being activities. Behind the scenes, over 800 people work in collaboration to make the event the exciting, diverse, and vibrant for people of all ages. Volunteering at the Festival is a great way to meet students, alumni, faculty and staff, while connecting with the UCD community.

Befriender Volunteer – Spirasi
Spirasi supports asylum seekers and refugees who are victims of torture to rebuild their lives in Ireland.
Our services include Initial Assessment of both victims of torture and those who have suffered cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment; ongoing support including individual, group and family therapy; both in-house and outreach psychosocial interventions; Medico Legal Reports (MLRs) for the protection process and accredited English language and computer provision.
Befriending is a one-to-one supported relationship between a client or student of Spirasi, befriendee, and a trained volunteer, befriender.
The aim of befriending is to support the rehabilitation of our clients, and/or the students of our English language classes by building good social and community relations with a local volunteer. Our team of befrienders is supported by a dedicated staff member.
Working on a one-to-one basis with a client and/or student of Spirasi your work may include:
- Helping your befriendee re-build trust and to reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation through providing him/her with the necessary support, which is discussed and agreed at the initial meeting facilitated by Spirasi.
- Meeting, subject to prevailing public health guidelines, and keeping in regular contact with your befriendee- usually on weekly basis.
- Providing literacy and language support to your befriendee
- Providing practical support to your befriendee where necessary including help with filling out forms, reading and explaining a letter a befriendee has received, making a phone call on a befriendee’s behalf, etc..
- Assisting your befriendee in integrating in the Irish community through cultural exchange as well as sharing of ideas, traditions and knowledge.
- Keeping in regular contact with Spirasi.
- Participating in check-ins with a Spirasi dedicated staff member to assess the progress of the befriendee and address and issues or challenges
- Seeking support from Spirasi where appropriate.
- Attending regional/national gatherings of befrienders.
Time Commitment:
We are looking for people to commit to 1 hour per week, ideally for a period of 1 year.

Hairdresser & Barbers – Depaul
Depaul is a homeless charity providing accommodation and support through hostels and outreach services. Depaul believes that everyone should have a place to call home and a stake in their community.
Our aim is to work with those who are socially excluded and marginalised by providing a quality led service in order to produce the best possible outcomes for those accessing our services. We work in partnership with central and local government, housing associations and other non-governmental organisations such as the society of St Vincent de Paul.
We are looking for volunteers who are looking to make the lives of people in homeless services a better place using your skills in hairdressing or barbering. You will be not only giving people a sense of belonging and will be boosting their self-esteem with a haircut and a chat.
We are looking for Hairdressers & Barbers to visit our hostels and provide haircuts possibly dye hair, give advise on hair care where necessary and make the service users feel better in themselves.You will be supervised, supported and given guidance by the staff on site.
Help our service users to regain confidence and feel good about themselves, by utilising your skills to provide hairstyles and treatments – make someone feel a million dollars!
You dont need to be from the area if you wish to travel cross county we can discuss this with you as well. Various locations around Ireland. Cork, Wexford, Waterford and Carlow. Please share with anyone you know who may be interested.
Summer Project Youth Support Voluteer – Solas Project (Dublin 8)
Solas Project is a charity based in Dublin 8. Our vision is to see communities rejuvenated. We aim to do this by equipping and building up young people to overcome all limitations imposed on them by social and educational disadvantage through the adventure of discovering their abilities and self-worth.
Volunteer with us for 6 days over a 5 week summer programme of fun and adventure for children aged 5 – 10 who live in inner city Dublin. Enable these children make the most out of their long summer holidays.
We’re running Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9th July – 8th August 2024.
What’s involved in this role?
- – Having fun with the children!
- – Helping supervise children during travel to/from destination and during activities.
- – Attending day trips with transport from city centre provided.
- – Water activities, sports and teamwork.
DATES: 9th-11th July (Week One), 16th-18th July (Week Two), 23rd-25th July (Week Three), 30th-1st August (Week Four), 6th-8th August (Week Five) HOURS: 9.30am – 4pm
Minimum commitment: 6 full days We ask that you commit six full days over the course of the six weeks, it can be one day per week, or 6 days in a row.
Branch Fundraiser Volunteer – SSAFA (Nationwide)
SSAFA the Armed Forces charity, the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association, is a UK charity that provides lifelong support to serving men and women and veterans from the British Armed Forces and their families or dependents. Anyone who is currently serving or has ever served in the Royal Navy, British Army or Royal Air Force and their families, both regulars and reserves, is eligible for their help
This role involves being out and about at public events and would suit someone looking to give the occasional day, half day or evening to support SSAFA; when and where would be flexible to suit you.
What would you be doing?
- Be part of a team with collection/buckets tins at events, supermarkets, shopping centres, etc.
- Acting as a marshal at a public event e.g., handing out water to runners, supervising parking etc.
- Being part of a team running a stall at an event, Armed Forces Day, fayre, county show etc.
- Helping with putting up posters, building gazebos, serving refreshments, packing/unpacking cars etc.
- Being a positive ambassador for SSAFA, engaging people of all backgrounds and interests.
- Volunteering within the standards and values of SSAFA including observing our policies such as the Volunteering policy and data protection policy (these will be covered in your training and local induction).

Many charity shops in Wicklow are recruiting volunteers to join their teams and support them with the tremendous work they do generating funds for their respective charities.
Volunteering is a great opportunity to meet people & have fun. Shop volunteers can help in many different ways – preparing goods for sale, helping customers in the shop and helping at the till. They provide a friendly welcome to customers and help the shops to run smoothly. We have roles in garden, furniture & retail shops across the country!

Volunteer Caseworker – SSAFA
SSAFA the Armed Forces charity, the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association, is a UK charity that provides lifelong support to serving men and women and veterans from the British Armed Forces and their families or dependents. Anyone who is currently serving or has ever served in the Royal Navy, British Army or Royal Air Force and their families, both regulars and reserves, is eligible for their help
Would you like to support people who have served in the Armed Forces? You don’t need a military background, just the ability to listen, some basic I.T skills and good written and spoken English. If so, this could be the role for you.
Our clients are based at home or in a care home setting. Our volunteers are based at home with a yearly AGM invite.
What does this role involve?
- Contacting clients and arranging to meet them at a mutually convenient time
- Meeting clients and completing a form to assess their circumstances
- Sign-posting clients onto local services providing specialist advice
- Keeping in touch with your branch so they know your availability
- Keeping up to date with training and SSAFA news so that you are best able to support clients
- Being a positive ambassador for SSAFA remembering that anyone you meet could be a potential client, volunteer or fundraiser
- Volunteering within the standards and values of SSAFA including observing our policies such as the Volunteering policy and data protection policy (these will be covered in your training and local induction.)
Our main role is seeking welfare benevolent grants on behalf of clients who reside in the 26 counties in the Republic of Ireland. They can arrange anything from household goods, funeral costs, mobility aids or other general needs. Legal fees are not considered. We would advise clients to seek state and local benefits by signposting them to the relevant agencies.
