County Wicklow Volunteer Centre (CWVC) is committed to making ethical choices that are in line with the principles of the community, and voluntary sector in Ireland, and best practice principles of volunteering. CWVC prides itself on its core values and ethical standards and will only work with organisations whose business practices respect human dignity, are not in breach of law and uphold CWVC’s values.

The Volunteer Charter
Launched in January 2025 the Volunteer Charter comes in two segments, one for organisations and one for volunteers and can be used to clarify expectations from both sides when a volunteer takes up a role in your organisation. By implementing this Volunteer Charter you are creating a clear foundation of the relationship with volunteers and by ensuring the charter is followed, generating an increased quality in the volunteering experience.

Wicklow Public Participation Network
County Wicklow Public Participation Network (PPN) was formed in July 2014. Since then, Co Wicklow PPN has worked towards branding itself, developing transparent structures and procedures, providing community information, supporting member groups, representing the community on various committees, and raising awareness of the PPN itself.
What is Co Wicklow PPN?
Co Wicklow PPN is a network of community groups from all the municipal districts in Co Wicklow that focus on environmental, and social inclusion and other community activities across the county. Membership is free and we have a diverse membership base that includes: youth groups, residents’ associations, community councils, sports groups, older people’s groups and much more!
What Does It Do?
The PPN has three main functions:
- To provide a structure for Co Wicklow community groups to nominate community representatives to decision and policy-making bodies in the county
- To act as a channel for information between various local and national bodies and Co Wicklow community groups
- To support member groups to grow, develop, be informed and have their voices heard.
Membership of Co Wicklow PPN is free and open to any community & voluntary group, environmental group, and any organisation or club addressing issues of social exclusion, working on a voluntary, co-operative or not-for-profit basis for the benefit of communities in County Wicklow.
