I am volunteering in my local Oxfam charity shop for the summer. I have held the role of retail team member for 4 weeks. The shop is always in need of volunteers so I am very happy to be involved by lending a hand in my free time. Everyone I have met in Oxfam is really friendly and supportive and there is a great atmosphere in the store. Working in the store has made me realise the huge variety of good quality clothes, books, CDs and accessories that are available in charity shops. As a result, I will most likely start shopping in charity shops more often. I strive to live a sustainable lifestyle, so working in an Oxfam charity shop is very much in line with my personal values.
I would definitely recommend volunteering with Oxfam to my family and friends. It’s so easy to get involved, and the work is really flexible, you can do as many hours as you like each week. I am so glad I decided to volunteer with Oxfam. It’s amazing to have the opportunity to support such a worthy cause, while also gaining valuable retail experience for my CV.
