I have been volunteering from the time I arrived in this Country. I arrived last year June 2023 and I was based in Clondalkin and joined in with the group called Clondalkin Tidy Towns. We meet every Saturday at 10.30 am and did a general cleaning of the town in all aspects. Dealing with litter, gardening, painting, and whatever was deemed necessary.
I enjoyed myself interacting with many people of diverse cultures. I personally learned a lot from them and acquired same skills from them like painting I had never painted before.
In December 2023 I was transferred from Clondalkin to Bray. As I knew how volunteering worked, I looked for a local group to volunteer with and here I am in these groups volunteering. I have participated in Bray Tidy Towns and Bray Coastcare Group whenever I have time. I always recommend people to share their time with the community. I like cleaning, I enjoy walking around a clean town, that feeling of being part of the town is indescribable without me. It’s not all about money your time is also worth a lot. Make a difference, make an impact within the society you live in.
Back home we have what we call Nelson Mandela Day when individuals give to society 67 minutes of their time, I carry that forward wherever I go.
